Malachite Kingfisher

The Malachite Kingfisher, Alcedo cristata is a sought after bird to either add to lifelists or to enjoy for its sheer beauty. I am restricting the accompanying words in this particular blog to these introductory remarks to underline two aspects relating to this bird specie. The first is that you should enjoy its immense beauty as a visual traet rather than having this blog cluttered with words and descriptions that may well detract from the beauty of the bird and the second principle is that there are more appropriate forums and more learned ones at that where detailed information about this bird specie can be sourced. The photos were all taken at the Intaka Island Bird Sanctuary and the Rondevlei Nature Reserve and Bird Sanctuary, both venues situated in the greater Cape Town area of South Africa.
